The article discussed the results of a study evaluating the dependence of mortality from cardiovascular diseases (ischemic heart disease, myocardial infarction and cerebrovascular diseases) depending on daily air temperature, monthly precipitation and sunlight. The study was conducted among the population of the city of Sheki, Azerbaijan. Official statistical data were used in the study, the specific gravity of circulatory system diseases among all causes of death of the population in dynamics for 1970-2011 was determined, and the dependence of the risk of death from circulatory system diseases on meteorological factors was studied using materials from the meteorological station of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Data on daily air temperature, amount of precipitation and duration of sunlight were obtained from meteorological stations. Data on cardiovascular diseases and mortality were obtained from medical records. The lowest average daily mortality rate from circulatory system diseases (1,18±0,22) was recorded during the period when the average monthly precipitation was 121,4±7,07 mm. In comparison, when the average monthly precipitation was 86,1±14,58 mm, the mortality rate was 2,09±0,37 (p<0,05); at 69,0±10,6 mm, it was 2,07±0,39 (p<0,05); at 56,0±2,45 mm, it was 2,02±0,36 (p<0,05); at 49,2±0,95 mm, it was 1,90±0,31 (p=0,05); and at 47,0±1,25 mm, it was 2,22±0,51 (p<0,05). No correlation was observed between the duration of sunlight and the risk of death from cardiovascular diseases in Sheki city. Thus, from long-term observations among the population of the city of Sheki, it became clear that the average daily air temperature and average monthly precipitation are risk factors for a significant change in the probability of death from circulatory system diseases.
