Abstract

The article provides information about a study conducted to investigate the metabolic markers in bone tissue during alloxan-induced diabetes mellitus in rabbits and to explore the possibility of correcting the identified changes with vitamin D. Experimental research was carried out on 21 rabbits of both genders. The rabbits were divided into three groups: 5 in the control group and 2 experimental groups, each consisting of 8 rabbits. Diabetic symptoms were observed 5 days after alloxan injection. Blood samples were taken from the heart cavity, and lymph was collected from the thoracic duct under anesthesia. Blood and lymph samples were taken from the 5 rabbits in the control group, and the levels of metabolic markers of bone tissue (osteocalcin, calcium, phosphorus) and vitamin D, as well as the lymph flow rate, were studied. These parameters were measured on the 5th, 15th, and 30th days after alloxan injection in the second experimental group of 8 rabbits. In the third group, 8 rabbits with diabetes mellitus were treated with 1000-5000 IU (2-10 drops) of vitamin D daily. The same parameters were examined at the corresponding time points. The use of vitamin D in diabetic animals positively affected the examined parameters in both blood and lymph, as well as the normalization of tissue lymphatic drainage.
