The article provides information on a research study conducted to examine the status of heart rate variability (HRV) in individuals with high-normal blood pressure (HNBP). The study included 90 participants aged between 19 and 59, divided into three groups: the main group – individuals with HNBP (n=30), the comparison group – individuals with grade I arterial hypertension (n=30), and the control group – individuals with normal blood pressure (n=30). Electrocardiographic (ECG) parameters of the participants were analyzed, and the results obtained in the main group were compared with those in the control group. A comparative analysis of HRV periodic parameters between individuals with HNBP and the control group revealed an increase in sympathetic activity and the gradual onset of vagal inhibition in individuals with HNBP. This phenomenon serves as an early prognostic marker for severe complications, such as fatal arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death.
