The aim of the study was to identify the prevalence of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) among patients with complaints of the upper gastrointestinal tract pathologies and to study the relationship between risk factors and complaints with endoscopic signs in patients with GERD. We performed esophagogastroduodenoscopy in 1900 patients aged 15-80 years between January 2019 and February 2021. 1067 (56,2%) of them were men, 833 (43,8%) were women. Our data showed that GERD was detected endoscopically in 32.7% of cases among the patients with symptoms of the upper gastrointestinal tract pathologies. 37.2% of them were non-erosive, and in 62.7% of cases were erosive GERD. 231 patients with GERD were included in our study, in whom complaints and risk factors of GERD were identified using a questionnaire, followed by a study of their relationship with endoscopy data. The most common risk factors of GERD were overweight, fatty diet, nervous strain, and diaphragmatic hernia. Heartburn, dysphagia, and regurgitation were common complaints in GERD. There was statistically significant relationship only between dysphagia and endoscopic esophagitis (p<0,05).
