The article presents data from a comparative statistical analysis of colposcopic examination findings in women with human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. The study included the results of analyses from 49 women aged 18-49. The main group consisted of 33 women who were found to have high-risk HPV infection. The control group comprised 16 practically healthy women of corresponding age in whom HPV infection was not detected but who presented with background pathologies of the uterine cervix. A unified examination algorithm was applied to all participants enrolled in the study. Laboratory investigations included complete blood count, general examination of vaginal smear, detection of HPV and its genotypes in the smear by polymerase chain reaction, and Pap smear analysis. The findings of the conducted study demonstrated that the presence of high-risk HPV infection significantly increases the likelihood of precancerous changes developing in the cervical epithelium.Downloads
