Abstract

The article provides information about a research study conducted to investigate changes in bone metabolism indicators and homocysteine levels in patients with osteoporosis and osteoporotic fractures. The study included 128 people aged 45-8. Blood samples were taken at 3 stages: before treatment, on the 10th day of treatment, and 1 month after treatment. In order to diagnose osteoporosis, calcium and vitamin D were also determined in blood serum. After 1 month, compared to the results before treatment, the level of homocysteine increased by 66.0% (pW=0.500) in patients with osteoporosis in the age group of 45-60 years, but did not change significantly in patients over 60 years (pW=0.441). It decreased by 55.4% (pW=0.005) in patients aged 45-60 years with fractures without osteoporosis, by 27.7% (pW=0.138) in patients over 60 years, by 51.5% (pW=0.069) in patients aged 45-60 years with osteoporotic fractures, and by 54.9% (pW=0.001) in patients over 60 years. Monitoring changes in homocysteine levels can assist in predicting fracture risk, preventing recurrent fractures, and determine more effective treatment methods.
