The article presents information on the structural features of the intramuscular nerve plexus of the colon in normal conditions. For this, 37 Wistar rats were examined. The study used a universal method based on classical impregnation methods: intravascular - Rannier-Goyer and immersion - Bilshovsky-Gross. It was found that the intramuscular plexus of the colon is represented by ganglia forming a chain, compactly located between the circular and longitudinal layers of the muscular membrane. The neurons in the ganglia varied in size. The neurons had a large, rounded nucleus with loose chromatin. The intramuscular plexus of the ileum contains cells of the 1st and 2nd type of Dogel. Type 1 Dogel cells have many short dendritic processes extending from the body, and one long process, an axon, which branches in smooth muscles, which gives type 1 Dogel cells elongated outlines. Dogel type 2 cells have a rounded or oval shape and smoother outline than type 1 Dogel cells. The long processes of these cells branch out at a distance from the body of the neuron. As a result of the study, morphological evidence was obtained that there are direct syncytial connections between neurons in the muscular plexuses of the colon. Studies have shown that syncytial connections of neurons in the autonomic ganglia of the intestine were constantly detected.
