The article provides information on a investigation conducted to study the characteristics of heart rate variability in high school children with type 1 diabetes. The study involved 64 children aged 12-17 years. Of these, 44 patients with type 1 diabetes (25 boys, 19 girls), who were divided into 2 subgroups according to the duration of diabetes: 1-3 years (A) – average duration 1,15±0,28 years, 17 children); 4 years or more (B) – average duration 7,2±0,48 years, 27 children. The control group consisted of 20 practically healthy children of the corresponding age. In all children who participated in the survey indicators of heart rate variability (HRV) were determined: standard deviation of NN intervals (SDNN), standard deviation of RR intervals (RMSSD), percentage of successive RR intervals that differ by more than 50 ms (pNN50%), high-frequency (HF), low-frequency (LF), very-low-frequency (VLF) heart rate oscillations, LF / HF index. In children with type I diabetes mellitus in both groups, changes in HRV indicators were revealed: a decrease in SDNN, pNN 50%, RMSSD in comparison with healthy children, decrease in HF, an increase in LF and LF/HF. Thus, the determination of HRV parameters in children with TIDM, playing an important role in the early diagnosis of cardiac autonomic neuropathy, will allow in the future to prevent complications from the cardiovascular system.
