The main goal of the work is to monitor the change in the amount of iron and ferritin in the blood serum in patients with desferal β-thalassemia receiving therapy. 125 patients with thalassemia were examined. 68 of them were boys and 53 girls. Control group was formed by 20 healthy people of the same age and sex. Different doses of despheral were used for the examined patients depending on the clinical course of the disease.
On our part, this group of patients was diagnosed with a concentration of ferritin after taking desferal. Studies have shown that a decrease in the concentration of ferritin depends on the dose of desferal.
Thus, it has been shown that the use of desferal-therapy in the treatment of patients with ARF β-thalassemia is expedient. Our determination of ferritin in the blood serum can play a great role in keeping the functional activity of the liver and spleen at a normal level, allowing the exact selection of desferal doses in this group of patients dynamically.
