Abstract

The article provides information about a pharmacological research study dedicated to changes in the levels of monoamines in the white matter of the brain during chronic alcohol consumption. This study focused on the corrective effects of “Mexidol” and “Piracetam”.
The analysis of the research findings showed that the changes in the levels of monoamines in different brain structures of white rats (hypothalamus, striatum, frontal cortex) during prolonged alcohol consumption approach the initial levels under the influence of “Mexidol” and “Piracetam”. A faster normalization of monoamine content was observed with the simultaneous administration of “Mexidol” and “Piracetam”.
