The article presents information on the diagnostic value of L-FABP (liver fatty acid binding protein) and cathelicidin proteins in blood serum in chronic renal failure complicated by diabetes mellitus. The study included data on cathelicidin and L-FABP in the blood serum of 84 patients with type II diabetes mellitus and 17 healthy individuals (control group). Patients with diabetes mellitus were divided into 3 groups: uncomplicated glomerulopathy (n=28), glomerulopathy (n=28) and complicated by chronic renal failure (n=28). The level of cathelicidin in the blood serum did not differ statistically in the studied groups, and a statistically significant increase in the level of L-FABP was observed in all three diabetic groups compared with the control.
