Abstract

The article provides information on the results of a study conducted to examine changes in the peripheral blood of patients with COVID-19 infection, including hematological leukocyte indices. The hematological indicators of 92 patients with COVID-19 infection (mild in 44 and severe in 48) were studied, the changes that occurred were analyzed and evaluated. Changes in the number of erythrocytes and platelets in the peripheral blood during examinations were found mainly in patients with a severe course. Changes in the leukocyte formula were manifested by lymphocytosis in patients with a mild course, and neutrophilic leukocytosis in those with a severe course. During the study of reactivity indices - hematological leukocyte indices, a decrease in the leukocyte index (LI) and an increase in the blood leukocyte displacement index (BLDI) were determined in patients with a severe course, which can be considered as an indicator of insufficient adaptation mechanisms of the body during acute inflammatory processes. It is advisable to consider the increase of BLDI or the decrease of LI as an indicator of prognostic importance, which are unfavorable changes that appear in the general reactivity of patients with COVID-19 infection.
