The article presents information about the results of transcranial Dopplerography for assessing cerebral hemodynamics in 91 patients with ischemic stroke (IS). The quantitative parameters of blood flow in the middle cerebral artery (MCA) on the side of the lesion and on the contralateral side, as well as in the large veins of the brain, were determined. The obtained results were compared with the data of the persons of the comparative group (CG), who had no vascular pathologies. It was found that in 83.5% of patients with IS on the side of the lesion, the systolic blood flow velocity (Vs) decreased to 54.9±6.1 cm/s, which is significantly (P<0.001) lower than on the contralateral side (102.6±7.3 cm/s).
An inverse relationship has been established between the arterial and venous blood flow of the brain in ischemic stroke. The main veins of the brain in IS were visualized significantly (P<0.05) more often than in comparison group. In addition, the systolic blood flow velocity in the main veins of the brain (the vein of Galen and Rosenthal, the median cerebral vein and the direct sinus) was significantly (P<0.05) higher than in comparison group.
