The article presents a research study aimed at investigating the levels of proteins involved in vitamin D metabolism – vitamin D-binding protein (VDBP) and the vitamin D receptor (VDR) – in the blood of postmenopausal women with osteoporotic fractures. The study included examination results of 41 postmenopausal women diagnosed with osteoporotic fractures during 2022-2023 years. The control group consisted of 13 practically healthy postmenopausal women. The findings of the study demonstrated that, in postmenopausal women with osteoporotic fractures, decreased synthesis of estrogen and vitamin D deficiency are accompanied by a reduction in serum concentrations of VDBP (p <0.01). These alterations contribute to disturbances in bone metabolism, leading to functional and morphological changes in bone tissue.
