The results of a study conducted to compare the treatment of patients with periprosthetic joint infection using photodynamic therapy and standard methods are presented.
The results of treatment of 36 patients with suppuration after endoprosthetics of large joints were analyzed. The main group consisted of 20 people, the control group - 16. The patients of the main group, in contrast to the control group, after removing the elements of the endoprosthesis and devitalized tissues, underwent photodynamic therapy.
The study showed that the patients of the main group showed a faster resolution of the inflammatory process in the area of surgery compared to the control group.
Consequently, the use of laser technologies improves the results of treatment of patients with periprosthetic joint infection.
