This article reports on a study conducted to evaluate the practical value of the Body Roundness Index (BRI) in predicting the risk of developing metabolic syndrome on the basis of anthropometric parameters among students of the Central Asian Medical University. The study included 382 students aged 18-25 years enrolled at the university. Anthropometric assessment included measurements of height, body weight, waist circumference, body mass index (BMI), and Body Roundness Index (BRI). BMI was calculated using the standard formula, while BRI was determined according to the method proposed by Thomas et al. (2013). The study findings demonstrated that 37.1% of students had abdominal obesity according to waist circumference measurements. Elevated BRI values were detected in 37.1% of students, including an increased risk of metabolic disorders in 28% and a high risk in 9.1% of participants. The obtained results confirm the higher diagnostic value of BRI compared to BMI in identifying early signs of metabolic syndrome in young adults.Downloads
