Abstract

The structure of neurotic disorders among Azerbaijani conscripts was studied during the conscription periods of 2008 and 2018, with a comparison made between the identified data. Among the conscripts in 2008, adaptive reaction disorders statistically significantly prevailed (35 people - 32.4%, p<0.05), followed by dissociative [conversion] disorders in second place (39 people - 36.2%, p<0.05). In contrast, among the 2018 conscripts, neurasthenia was statistically significant and predominant (52 people - 39.7%). The prevalence of individuals with phobic anxiety disorder, panic disorder [episodic paroxysmal anxiety], and predominantly compulsive behaviors [compulsive rituals] was a minority in both groups and not statistically significant. The timely detection and treatment of neurotic disorders contribute to a low level of mental pathology among individuals exempted from conscription for military service.
