The article presents the results of a study conducted to assess the role of visual situation in formation of progressing risk of myopia among children. As a criteria for visual situation the place of residence (large city, small towns and rural settlements) was selected. Two-time screening of children with an interval of 12 months was organized. The difference in refraction of children over the observed period was evaluated as a criterion of the progression of myopia. It is determined that, the average annual rate of progression is -0,97± 0,1 D on the background with myopia, -1,12±0,1D on the background without myopia at the age of 6-7 years. These indicators are higher for children at the age 13-14 years (correspondingly – 1,15±0,1 & – 1,17±0,1 D). Progression rate of myopia ˃ - 1,0 D was at 33,3±9,1; 41,9±5,1; 45,2±7,7 & 52,6±5,6% cases. The progression rate of myopia among children at the age 5-19 years in large cities, towns and settlements are significantly different (-1,17±0,05; -1,03±0,05; -0,88±0,05 D). Thus, progressing risk of myopia among children in large city is higher than in rural settlements.
